Sandburg Basketball Teams to Host Region IV Quarterfinal Doubleheader Thursday

The Carl Sandburg College men’s and women’s basketball teams will host a postseason doubleheader Thursday at John M. Lewis Gymnasium.
Both Chargers teams earned the No. 4 seed in their respective Region IV tournaments and will take on fifth-seeded Lake County in the quarterfinals. The women’s game will take place at 5 p.m. Thursday, followed by the men’s contest at 7 p.m.
The women’s game was originally scheduled for Wednesday evening, but with inclement weather forecasted for Wednesday and a common opponent involved, the schools agreed to play both games Thursday instead.
The Sandburg women’s team (13-15) enters the Region IV Division II District D tournament having lost two in a row, but the Chargers were 9-7 in the regular season against Region IV opponents. Sandburg has not faced the Lancers (18-11) this season.
The Chargers men’s team (21-9) comes into the Region IV Division II District 4 tournament having already clinched its third consecutive 20-win campaign. Lake County (19-11) did not face Sandburg during the regular season.

6 — Winner 3 vs. winner 4, 6 p.m. Saturday
Championship (at Moraine Valley Community College, Palos Hills)
7 — Winner 5 vs. winner 6, 2:30 p.m. March 7
